Koda Blade Company

Koda Blade Company consists of Jeff Jackson, a craftsman located in Woodstock, Georgia, USA. After watching knife-making competition shows on television with his family, one of his sons gave him a “two-day knife-making experience” at a local forge for his birthday in 2022. Jeff’s love for the craft soon followed.

After that initial class, Jeff took another knife making class at a local art center. He then took classes in blacksmithing, welding and axe making as well. He has also taken courses on chef-knife design and has traveled to the Center for Metal Arts in Johnstown, PA to take courses in blacksmith tool forging, hand-forging a friction folder knife, forging Damascus steel and complete chef knife design and construction.

Koda Blade Company was officially launched in October 2023. Because of the constant support of his family, and the introduction into the craft of knife-making by his son Luke, Jeff named the company after him. “Koda” is a Native American word for “Little Bear,” which is the nickname Jeff had for his son when he was younger. Jeff is reminded of his family and their support for him with every knife he makes bearing the name “Koda Blade Company.”

As with any craft, Koda Blades carry a human element. None of them are perfect. All of them are completely unique. Being hand-made, no two are exactly the same. Part of their beauty lies in the balance between the pursuit of near perfect craftsmanship and the imperfections left behind by the human maker. Each knife is a snapshot of Jeff’s progression as a maker, always changing and improving, like mile-markers on his journey.

Jeff forges some knives with heat, anvil and a hammer. Others are cut, ground and sanded to form. All of his knives are 100% hand-made. Jeff is committed to providing beautiful products, made to the highest quality and performance standards. He continues to push himself to acquire new techniques and learn more about the craft from the top makers in the country, while continuing to refine his current processes.
